Vegetables with flavour

Fed up as I am with flavourless veg, I continue to try to press home the idea that vegetables should be seasonal and not available 24/7. (hate that but it seems to make the point) Runner beans in the middle of winter are un-natural unless they have been preserved by salting down or that modern technique of freezing, fresh asparagus should be enjoyed as a treat in May, and come from Norfolk, and not flown half way round the world from Peru in December. We have become conditioned to accept the fact that we can have anything when we want it. Much better is to look out for British grown veg or grow it yourself.

Heirloom & Heritage Seeds

The way forward is clear, Heritage and Heirloom seeds are becoming accepted as good to grow giving flavoursome vegetables again. There is nothing to compare with fresh picked produce from the garden or allotment.

A really good selection of these seeds can be found at www.pennardplants.com
